Tutorials out of date - Not Relevant

It appears after reading through this site there has been some form of revamp of Appery recently which has caused quite a number of problems by the looks of it.

Another for me as a brand new member of only a few hours is the first tutorial and I will assume the rest of them in relation to the issue are out of date and refer to an earlier version of the software.

I am trying to do the first tutorial where you make a warehouse db list for three drinks and yet when I try and do the mapping to match the list with the database it won't work and the tutorial images show a screen which is now different.

I was attempting to evaluate Appery for use with my business with an aim to subscribe but have to say I am far removed from being anywhere near impressed. I think it's been foolish and short sighted to update your software version and not provide relevant tutorials.

Looks like I will have to move on and try the numerous amount of competitor offerings.

Hello Robert!

We pushed an update yesterday and introduced Model and Storage feature (http://devcenter.appery.io/documentat...). So mapping was updated http://blog.appery.io/2014/05/new-map... (http://devcenter.appery.io/documentat...).

Could you clarify what is the exact problem you have?

Hi Maryna

Thanks for your reply.

All I am trying to do is complete the first tutorial which is the warehouse app.

I am at the stage of trying to map the database to the list.

I have tried several times to follow the new mapping instructions as per the link you provided but still cannot get it to work.

I am setting up the mapping on the Success area / part.... see screenshot. But it's not working when I test the app with this mapping the list is not shown at all and with no mapping just one default list item is shown.

Please just tell me how to do this simple thing.

Hi Robert,

Are there any console errors? Should be working. What library version do you use?

Hi

I have now got it working... even though the database and the app have been double checked at least x5 times I decided to try and just delete both and start again from fresh and it's now working.

Seems a bit strange but at least it's now working.

I would highly recommend updating the tutorials asap as most people find standard docs that come with software to be confusing and hard to learn from and these are the sort of people that are going to be attracted to your service otherwise they would just code using Eclipse etc.

I know that until there is better and relevant to the updated system tutorials are made I can't commit to a paid subscription.

Also if and when I do subscribe to a paid version is this the only type of support I can expect... as in via this website or is there a more direct and faster way of getting support for paying customers?

It seems that you need to add mapping to the Before Send even though you don't actually link anything from the left side to the right side you just need to add it and it will work?? The docs really could have been clearer about this would have saved a lot of trying different things blindly.

Hi Robert,

If you don't want to pass data via service you don't need Before Send mapping.
Could you please share the app with a href="mailto:support@appery.io" rel="nofollow"support@appery.io/a?
