Local Storage help

I am a rookie here. I am trying to pull data from one page and populate it in a field in another page. For instance, my 1st page is a list with multiple items. Depending on the item selected it takes you to another page that has a list of options to choose from. Once an option is selected, I want to be able to go back to the previous page and populate a field in the original item showing what was selected. Can anyone help?
