navigation bar item image size(height,width)

how to change navigationbar image size. in the designer only two options are there

1. Icon
2. Thumbnail
   if i want to set custom size, how to do this.
   i mean height and width of the Navigationbar image size using custom javascript etc..
   please let me know how to achieve this
